HleInGospelThe Hole in Our Gospel

The Education Committee under Átila Mellilo has picked another ”Book of the Year” for the congregation to read and study together. This year we are encouraged to read The Hole in Our Gospel by the head of World Vision, Richard Stearns. Later this Spring and again in the Fall we will have opportunity to come together as a community and reflect together on this tremendous witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ in our world.

The book has been procured for the membership at a fabulous discount price of 150 NOK. 150 NOK is the suggested donation for the book, but everyone is encouraged to read the book. Copies are in the church library, but if you wish to have your personal copy and cannot give the suggested donation, then give what you can, no questions asked.

Many of our members have already been greatly inspired through reading it and are eager to begin discussions and study groups. If you wish for further information and resources to the book go to the website for the book: www.theholeinourgospel.com

An important element in the life of the body of Christ is fellowship. God created us with a desire to draw closer to Him, and to Worship in fellowship.

When we read the Bible, we find that most events where Jesus followers were gathered food was served.

..and that is what the Fellowship Committee at the ALC is all about, creating opportunities to fellowship,...and the food to go with it.

  • We are responsible for arranging, or facilitating;
    special events, such as Valentines Dinner, Seder Meal,
  • Pot Luck meals, where everybody who can brings in a dish to share with others
  • Baby Showers, Retreats and Picnics
  • Coffee and Waffles after the Worship service

In addition we coordinate a Sports Ministry with events such as Tennis, Family Golf and Men's Golfcoffecup

The Fellowship Committee also sends out card for newborns, members in the hospital and in the event of death of a member.

The committee is naturally responsible for the operation and stocking the kitchen, procuring small appliances and equipment.

Everybody is welcome to all our events. The events are a good way for visitors, new members, or family members to get to know others in the congregation.

We are always looking for people to help out; either on a one-time basis, or on a more regular basis. Everybody can join in and help out; it is fun and gives a sense of accomplishment making things nice for others.

If you have questions, ideas, or want to help out, feel free to contact the Fellowship Commitee; This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

The American Lutheran Church is an international church with members from many nations.
We are truly showing that in Christ we are one. congregation

Matthew 28:19-20 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in[a] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Galatians 3:27-28 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Romans 12:5 so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

The American Lutheran Church in Oslo, would like to welcome all who wants to be a member of our church. There are two different memberships;

- Associated membership
- Full membership

As an associated member, you will keep your membership in your original church, but can participate in all off our Congregation's activities and voting at the Annual General Meeting.
As a full member, you cannot be a member of any other church.

If you want to apply for membership, you can find the form in the church or online.
The application has to be handed in by you personally to the church office, or to the Membership Chairman. When the application has been received, it will be put forward at the next Council meeting to be accepted.

Twice a year we have a presentation during the Sunday service.
Here new members are presented to the congregation and handed over their Membership Certificates.

We hope that we can reach out and invite you to join us in our congregation.

Matthew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

We depend upon and appreciate the financial gifts to the congregation made by members and non-members alike and we have received recognition by the Norwegian authorities as a not-for-profit institution and have contributions to our institution acknowledged by the Norwegian tax office.
